JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Teamster union workers rallied at the Jacksonville Anheuser-Busch factory on Friday for a new contract.
“We’re having a rally to show support for contract negotiations and the members are showing support for the fact that they want to strike a new contract,” said Jeff Padellaro, Director of the Teamsters Brewery, Bakery, and Soft Drink Conference.
He said that the union wants Anheuser-Busch to see that it’s not just the union officials taking a stand, but the membership voicing their concerns, too.
Padellaro said that they are in a good position for a new agreement.
“We’ve given the company everything that we believe they need to understand the issues that the members have brought forward,” said Padellaro.
The current contract with Anheuser-Busch expires Feb. 29, 2024, and Padellaro said they don’t intend to work any day beyond its expiration.
“They’re ready to walk. If we don’t get a contract that meets their needs and the company wants to continue to stonewall and not address those concerns, then the company will be putting them on strike,” said Padellaro.
News4JAX reached out to Anheuser-Busch for comment, and we have not gotten a response as of Friday afternoon.
