I tortured myself to get fit — but I got my dream body by eating more and working out less - New York Post

She’s got a body of evidence.

A buffed-up fitness coach has been raising eyeballs on TikTok with her shock reveal of the two unexpected lifestyle changes she made to attain her incredible physique.

Jenna Rizzo, 27, stunned viewers after saying her toned and taut frame is the product of cutting back on grueling workouts — and increasing the amount she eats.

“You can transform your body by doing less in the gym & more in the kitchen,” the content creator claimed in the caption of her video.

Rizzo included a “before” photo that showed her looking rail-thin, after years spent counting calories and exercising intensely.

She contrasted that snap with an “after” photo that showed her frame looking far more healthy and defined.

“It took me a long time to get from Point A to Point B because I was focusing on the wrong things,” Rizzo revealed at the outset of her pitch. “I’ll tell you the two things you really need to focus on so you can make a lot faster progress than me.”

First, Rizzo urged her followers to work out smarter, instead of harder, saying you don’t need to exercise every day to obtain — and maintain — a fabulously fit physique.

“A lot of us think doing really long workouts five, six times a week is gonna be really good for us, but it actually could be doing more harm than good,” she stated. “This is because when you work out you’re actually creating tears in your muscles and you have to give them proper rest so they can grow back bigger and stronger.”

The fitness enthusiast said she noticed “a major difference” in her physique when she stopped working out six times per week.

Now, Rizzo hits the gym just four times per week, spending two sessions focussing on her lower body and two focussing on her upper body. Each workout lasts for about an hour.

Meanwhile, Rizzo revealed her second tip to attaining a fit body: “Eat more than you think.”

“If our goal is to get strong and build muscle and create a nice toned look, we need to be fueling our bodies better than what just traditional diet culture tells us to eat,” the coach claimed.

Rizzo claimed many diets aimed at women advised the consumption of no more than 1,200 calories per day — but the fitness guru urged viewers to chow down.

“I have coached hundreds of women, and not a single one of them had their calories below 1,500 every single day,” she stated. “Moral of the story: eat your food and take your rest.”

Viewers praised Rizzo for her unconventional — but balanced and healthy — approach to diet and exercise.

“The opposite of what we’re told in diet culture,” one admirer declared.

“So happy I found your account! I’ve been working out 6x times a week, 2 hours every day and it did more harm than good,” another shared. “Thank you for your help.”

“This is so important,” a third cheered. “I wish more people would tell us this.”

According to the National Institutes of Health, you can reach a healthy weight if you follow a healthy diet, are physically active and limit the amount of time you spend being inactive, or sedentary.
