Many people are gearing down from work and getting ready for a holiday break. But area Lehigh Valley restaurants are doing anything but chill.
The Cheesecake Factory’s grand opening is today at Lehigh Valley Mall. The national franchise, known for its namesake selection of cheesecakes and other modern American fare, has been hotly anticipated. Lucky locals who were able to snag soft launch invites have documented their visits via Facebook posts on local food groups.
A spokesperson told The Morning Call that those looking to make reservations can do so beginning when the restaurant officially opens at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The Cheesecake Factory, 802 Lehigh Lifestyle Center, is open 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday ; 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday ; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Thyme Rooftop Grille, which opens Tuesday on the top floor of the Commodore Building at 100 Northampton St. in Easton, is sister restaurants with Zest in Bethlehem and Grille 3501 in South Whitehall Township. The restaurant, which has expansive views of the Delaware River, features elevated American food, like seafood, duck and lamb; a broad cocktail menu; and desserts. A special weekend brunch menu launches in January.
A new Mexican restaurant will be opening Tuesday in Bangor as well. Sazon Veracruzano will open on 456 S. Main St., according to a Facebook post. The restaurant will be the new face of Frutimex Bangor, which closed Nov. 1, according to Frutimex’s Facebook page. Sazon Veracruzano will be open at 6 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Nowhere Coffee Co. announced Friday that it will open a location in Trexlertown that it is calling The Roastery. The coffee shop has two locations: one in the South Mountain neighborhood of Emmaus at 318 Main St., and a second, newer location in Allentown’s West End, at 3127 W. Tilghman. The Roastery, which will be on 1115 Trexlertown Road in Upper Macungie Township, will not be customer-facing. Instead, the shop wrote in an Instagram post, it will conduct business operations and be roasting coffee beans at the location.
The Bayou’s Easton location, 64 Centre Square, shut down last month due to a plumbing malfunction. Initially, pipes on the property were blamed for flooding on the premises, but owner Mo Taylor recently said city pipes were affected as well, and that the restaurant was waiting for crews to fix those issues before reopening. Those issues have now been resolved, and The Bayou reopened Saturday evening. The spot, which puts a modern spin on New Orleans cuisine, opened in 2017 after the success of its Bethlehem location.
