Remember this name: Adam Frazier.
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ utility man is expected to be one of the most coveted players before the July 30 non-waiver trade deadline. In fact, the 29-year-old Frazier could be just what the right-handed heavy New York Yankees need to restore some balance in their lineup, according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.
With a 2021 salary of $4.3 million, Frazier is the second-highest-paid player on the Pirates roster this season, but for most contenders, his would be a relatively easy salary to fit into their budget. ...Frazier is having the best offensive season of his career, posting an .844 OPS with a National League-high 23 doubles as of Thursday. He’s also arbitration-eligible for a third and final time this coming offseason, so a team trading for Frazier would control him through 2022. ... Frazier is a perfect fit for a number of clubs, most notably the Yankees and White Sox.

Frazier is hitting .324, sixth-best in MLB. His 85 base hits are second-best in the majors and he’s tied for the major-league lead with Cincinnati Reds right fielder Nick Castellanos with 23 doubles.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and Pirates GM Ben Cherington are no strangers. In January, they completed the deal for right-hander Jameson Taillon. Before landing with Pittsburgh in 2019, Cherington worked for a pair of American League East rivals: The Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox.
