What treatment has he received?

He was taken to hospital in St Petersburg for x-rays to establish the extent of the injury, which left him with heavy swelling on the side of his head, but has returned to Belgium and will undergo surgery tomorrow.

When will he return?

Leicester are due to return to pre-season training next month with the new season kicking off on August 14. A spokesman for Castagne confirmed he will be ready for the new season.

“Timo is better,” he said. “His surgery is for tomorrow but doctors are very confident he will recover fully for the new season. I hope that reassures concerned fans. Timo is a strong boy.”

Does he have eye problems?

Castagne suffered from exophoria as a child, a condition in which the two eyes were turned slightly outward.

He had to have surgery to alleviate persistent double vision after a clash with Waasland-Beveren player Ibou while playing for Genk in 2015.

How has he performed for Leicester?

Castagne had an excellent first season at the King Power Stadium following his move from Atalanta last summer, scoring on his debut at West Bromwich Albion and showing his versatility to play in several defensive positions.
