Rose says Oubre not a Dubs style fit, will thrive elsewhere originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The Kelly Oubre Jr. Experience took another sharp turn Thursday night in Phoenix, and a lot of Warriors fans want off the ride.

In the Warriors' 114-93 loss to the Suns, Oubre scored four points on a season-worst 1-of-11 shooting and finished a minus-17 for the game.

In a season of ups and downs for Oubre, this was the lowest of lows. And it was a mindboggling performance considering it came less than 24 hours after one of his best games of the season, when he scored 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting in the Warriors' win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Former NBA player and current ESPN NBA analyst Jalen Rose believes he knows why things aren't working out between Oubre and the Warriors.

"This is a teaching moment for everybody," Rose said Friday on the "Jalen and Jacoby" show on ESPN. "One of my guys, I remember standing on the table for Meek Mill when people were dissing him. Right now, I'm going to stand on the table for Kelly Oubre and I'm going to teach everybody something. This is why he isn't performing well with the Golden State Warriors. That style don't fit his game. They play a little too fast offensively.

"They like to do constant motion, run and cut like your hair is on fire because Steph [Curry] is the best player to do that. One of Steph's best attributes is the pass and relocate, the pass and get screened away. So now you have all perimeter players having to play at that breakneck speed. And Kelly Oubre is not a breakneck speed offensive player."

For all the struggles Oubre is having this season, Rose is convinced it will be a short-lived swoon for the former first-round draft pick.

"So mark my words," Rose said. "He's going to go somewhere else, he's going to play a lot better and people going to rewind this tape. It's all because of the tempo that the Golden State Warriors play with. He didn't forget how to play basketball."

Oubre, the No. 15 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, steadily got better in each of his first five seasons in the NBA. Last season, in 56 games with the Suns, he averaged 18.7 points on 45.2 percent shooting from the field and 35.3 percent shooting from 3-point range.

Those numbers are why the Warriors acquired him from the Oklahoma City Thunder in November. But through 19 games, Oubre hasn't lived up to his reputation. So far, he's averaging an inconsistent 11.7 points on 35.9 percent shooting from the field and 22.1 percent on 3-pointers.

Oubre is in the final year of his contract, and with Klay Thompson expected to return fully healthy next season, there likely won't be room for the Kansas product on the Warriors roster next year.

Trade rumors already started circulating this week about the Warriors shipping Oubre out of town, though coach Steve Kerr has downplayed that speculation over the last few days.

Either way, Oubre doesn't appear to belong to the Bay Area, and if he plays well in his next stop, Rose will be proven right. Some players just can't fit in the Warriors' scheme alongside Curry.
