The Cheesecake Factory coming to Bridge Street Town Centre will be housed in the former Cantina Laredo space there and is expected to open winter 2021.
Bridge Street announced those details today and more, following last week’s news of Cheesecake Factory’s impending arrival.
The beloved “upscale casual” restaurant chain’s Huntsville digs will be about 7,350 square-feet. A Bridge Street rep says they anticipate Cheesecake Factory to begin hiring for the Huntsville location about 60 days out from opening.
Cantina Laredo, a Dallas-headquartered gourmet Mexican restaurant, shuttered its Bridge Street location in 2020 towards the beginning of the pandemic. For those unfamiliar with the space, it’s beside bookseller Barnes & Noble and across from Asian eatery P.F Chang’s.
“Our guests have been asking us to come to Huntsville for years,” Cheesecake Factory founder, chairman and CEO David Overton says in a statement, “so we are very pleased to be opening a restaurant at Bridge Street Town Centre.”
Bridge Street also announced Main Event will join the mixed-use development’s lineup. Based in Plano, Texas, Main Event locations boast an overwhelming array of family entertainment options, including bowling, laser-tag, zipline, more than 120 arcade games, gravity ropes, virtual reality and billiards. There’s also eats (burgers, wings, pizzas, etc.) and drinks (craft beers, craft cocktails).
Main Event has targeted a 2022 opening at Bridge Street. The business will be housed in the 50,000 square-foot space formerly home to Toys “R” Us, the kids-oriented retailer that filed for bankruptcy and closed at Bridge Street in 2018. According to fortworthbusiness.com, Main Event totals 44 locations across 17 states.
The first Cheesecake Factory opened in 1978 in Beverly Hills, Calif. They now operate around 200 restaurants in the U.S. Cheesecake Factory’s famously divergent menu tallies more than 250 selections, all made from scratch. Signature dishes include Cajun jambalaya pasta, shepherd’s pie and chicken taquitos. There are also dozens of cheesecakes available, with flavors like pineapple upside-down, salted caramel and fresh strawberry.
Bridge Street opened in 2007 and is home to around 50 ventures. Some of the longest running tenants, a rep says, include Apple Store, Anthropologie, H&M and Connors Steak & Seafood. A Cinemark movie theater, Westin Hotel and Hyatt Place Hotel are located there too. Recent additions include Lush Cosmetics, Athleta and Urban Cookhouse.
