NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Bedding Industries of America, the flagship licensee of Eclipse International, plans to open an 80,000-square-foot facility in Rialto, Calif., in April to serve retailers in California, Nevada and part of Arizona.
The manufacturing, showroom and distribution center is scheduled to open April 1 and will employ 120 when it is fully operational. The factory will be equipped with the latest machinery from Leggett & Platt’s Global Systems Group, which is designating the facility as a “Leggett Signature Plant.” Leggett will use the factory to showcase manufacturing innovation and design for the industry.
The new facility will manufacture mattresses under Eclipse, Saatva, Eastman House and Natural Dreams Pure Talalay brands, as well as others from the company’s portfolio.
“With the industry landscape changing and demand for our products so strong, we saw the need for a facility in Southern California to better serve our clients,” said Stuart Carlitz, president and CEO of Eclipse International. “This does not represent a major shift in strategy for us regarding licensing as we have 20 members in our group that provide coast-to-coast capabilities in the U.S. We realize in certain parts of the country where our business is strong, we need additional manufacturing facilities that allow us to meet demand in a timely manner.”
The location in San Bernardino County, which has a history in bedding manufacturing, gives the company immediate access to an experienced work force.
“This year, for the first time in our industry’s history, demand outpaced capacity, and we expect strong demand to continue well into 2021 and beyond,” Carlitz said. “With the assistance of Leggett & Platt and its Global Systems Group, we were able to design a state-of-the-art, lean manufacturing facility in Southern California.
