PEORIA (25News Now) - Months after being declared mentally unfit to stand trial for the murder of his grandmother last April, a Peoria County Judge ruled Thursday that a Peoria man is now mentally fit to stand trial.

The ruling came Thursday during a fitness reviewing hearing for 29-year-old Cody Krause.

As we have reported, prosecutors allege Krause murdered Glenda Rusterholz with a hammer, but also say he described in further detail how he desecrated her body.

Krause previously was in the custody of the Department of Human Services.

After Thursday’s hearing, he is in the Peoria County jail.

Krause is due back in court for another hearing in June.
