Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Top247 2023 running back Treyaun Webb announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon during a live broadcast on CBSSports HQ. He chose the Sooners over his other two finalists in Georgia and Ohio State.

The No. 29 overall prospect in the Top247 is pledge No. 1 for head coach Lincoln Riley and his staff. He visited Norman at the end of June for the program’s ChampU BBQ. He told Riley he was coming a few days after returning home on June 24.

“”Wow, Today was a Great Day -Boomer, #OUDNA” Riley tweeted after getting the good word from Webb.

“I never wanted to wait till my senior year to commit,” Webb told 247Sports. I would say the consistency as far as recruiting me and Coach Riley and Coach (DeMarco) Murray and the way they are recruiting me and the campus and offense, it all kind of fit and what I wanted to major in all kind of made sense.”

The visit for the ChampU BBQ, where many of Oklahoma’s best players over the last two decades returned to campus, put the Big 12 powerhouse over the top for Webb.

“The tradition, it’s Oklahoma, it’s a home kind of feeling,” Webb said. “The city of Norman, they love Oklahoma. When I went up there, it was a great vibe and people showed love. It shows a lot when the alumni come back and still love, it says a lot about the school and area that people still love it.

“The family environment. I was talking to the alumni like Adrian Peterson and to see CeeDee Lamb, they were telling me when they knew they were at home and I had a Deja Vu moment like I was at home with them.”

Webb has over 40 offers. He averaged 6.3 yards per carry as a sophomore in totaling 837 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground in 10 games according to MaxPreps in helping Trinity Christian Academy go 13-1 and win a state title in the Sunshine State's 3A classification.

“I see how Oklahoma uses their backs, I’ve watched a lot of film on them. Coach DeMarco tells me I’d be very versatile and get the ball in my hands and Coach Riley said a person like me will eat in their offense.”

Oklahoma was a no-brainer for Webb’s father as well.

“Just how involved Lincoln Riley was,” Reginald Webb said. “We did two Zoom meetings with them, we did an academic Zoom meeting with them and an athletic Zoom meeting with them and how professional they were and how organized they were about the academic component and I tried to throw a little curveball and ask a football question and they answered it and got back to the academic portion and it was all about business.

“We just connected with them more than we did any other school and they checked all the boxes and the they did a great job making us feel wanted and make us feel like a priority The BBQ the way they conducted the BBQ was really different than any other visit and the part that stood out to me the most they brought all the people there in the team meeting room and what they had was parents of actual players there and we never saw that before and they put parents on the hot seat and let us ask parents anything we wanted to ask and I think that pretty much sealed it for us.

“I can go on and on all day but it’s the perfect fit.”
