Mountain Top aluminum roll cover for pickup truck.

A producer of pickup truck bed parts and accessories plans to enter the U.S. market with a new factory in Alabama, state economic development officials.

Mountain Top Industries will invest $13.3 million in its new facility in Montgomery. The project is expected to create 90 new jobs.

Company officials said Mountain Top plans to supply both original equipment manufacturers — particularly Hyundai’s Alabama plant — and aftermarket operations throughout North America. The U.S., the company noted, is “by far” the largest pickup market in the world with more than 3 million sold in the country last year.

“We are very excited about our entry into North America and to continue building strong relations with our valued customers and suppliers in this part of the world,” the company said in a statement.

Mountain Top, headquartered in Denmark, specializes in aluminum roll covers for truck beds. The company also makes soft roll covers and hard lids, as well as bed liners, carriers, dividers, and sports bars. Additional production facilities are located in Australia and Thailand.

The Montgomery facility is expected to begin operations later this year or in early 2021.
