An Alabama-based maker of cabinets has announced plans to open a new $11 million manufacturing facility in Florence, creating 131 full-time jobs.
Kith Kitchens said today it will build on 11.5 acres at the Florence-Lauderdale Industrial Park, with the goal of beginning operations next summer.
The move was precipitated by demand for the company’s cabinets, which has outpaced the capacity of its Haleyville facility. The company was attracted to the Shoals area because of the existing workforce and a 150,000-square-foot speculative building pad on the property.
Adam Himber, vice president of the Shoals Economic Development Authority, said the EDA began building the building pad earlier this year in preparation for future development. This will allow for a faster startup time.
The project came about due to a collaborative effort with the Alabama Department of Commerce, AIDT, and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
