The NBA Draft is less than a month away and teams are entering the final stages of evaluating prospects. For the Golden State Warriors, they are in a unique spot where they hold the No. 2 overall pick.

The Warriors have been linked to a lot of prospects. However, one prospect has made it known that he would like to end up with the Warriors.

Iowa State point guard Tyrese Haliburton revealed to ESPN, via NBC Sports, that the Warriors are the best fit for his skill set. He mentioned that the Warriors pace and space offense meshes well with playmaking ability.

“I think I'm a really good fit there,” Haliburton said. “I think I can obviously come in and make shots as well and be in the first unit or lead the second unit.”

The Warriors have reported interest in Haliburton as well. In June, ESPN insider Jonathan Givony reported that the team views Haliburton in a Shaun Livingston-type role. Livingston was an important piece on the Warriors championship teams and helped take the pressure off Stephen Curry during the season.

Reports have also circulated that the Warriors are looking for a backup guard to fill a role in the backcourt. Haliburton has the ability to start or come off the bench as a six-man at the NBA level next season.

He averaged 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists for the Cyclones last season. He also shot 40 percent from three-point range. He also turned in a triple-double against the TCU Horned Frogs.

The Warriors were reportedly at that game. They left impressed with Haliburton’s skills after he had 22 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

“I do it in a different way,” Haliburton said. “I don't take tough shots, I don't force bad things. I try to get the best looks at all times, and I think people aren't used to that. People are used to guys taking tough shots for no reason at times.”

The Warriors can go a lot of different directions in the NBA Draft. They could stand pat and select at No. 2 or trade the pick for a proven NBA veteran. There is also the option to trade back and pick up more assets to fill out the roster.

Haliburton has been rumored among the top 10 picks in mock drafts. In CBS Sports writer Kyle Boone’s latest mock draft, Haliburton was selected by the Atlanta Hawks sixth overall. There is a chance Haliburton could be a top-five selection without a clear-cut prospect slated to go first overall.

Teams could decide to take players that fit their roster the best. This would lead to possibilities that the Warriors could take Haliburton at No. 2 or trade back a few spots for him.

Whatever the Warriors decide to do on draft night, they have a player that wouldn’t mind joining their team culture.

“A lot of it’s in the DNA,” Iowa State Cyclones head coach Steve Prohm said. “(Haliburton is) unselfish. In his heart, Tyrese is a giver. Feel for the game. Ability to make people better. Charismatic. Personable … He’ll be the governor of Wisconsin [Haliburton’s home state] when it’s over. He can own any room.”

With those intangibles, the Warriors and Haliburton could indeed be a match if the draft turns out that way.
