How will restaurant setups look once they reopen for dine-in service? That was the question on the mind of Orphan Andy's co-owners Dennis Ziebell and Bill Pung, and one they hope to have effectively answered.

The 1970s diner in the Castro recently had a modern makeover fit for a global pandemic. Clear plastic barriers have been arranged inside the whimsical space that will lend customers a semi-private dining experience once San Francisco County allows dine-in service next month.

"We began to reimagine what we would need in July at the end of April," Ziebell told SFGATE. "So, we re-envisioned the restaurant and put 3-feet-high plastic shields in the back of each booth."
