
Newmax building factory at CTSP

Optical lens maker Newmax Technology is constructing a factory at Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP), with completion scheduled for second-quarter 2021, according to the company.
Newmax said it has budgeted NT$3.923 billion (US$139 million) for the factory.
Newmax has supplied in-display fingerprint recognition lenses for a few Chinese smartphone vendors including Huawei and Xiaomi through China-based Q Technology - a major shareholder of Newmax, industry sources said, adding after the new factory is completed, Newmax is likely to obtain additional orders from Chinese smartphone vendors via Q Technology.
Newmax posted consolidated revenues of NT$2.693 billion, gross margin of 12.75%, operating loss of NT$353.1 million and net loss of NT$276.9 million for 2020.
Newmax has reported consolidated revenues of NT$221.9 million for February, slipping 18.36% sequentially but hiking 181.65% on year, and those of NT$493.7 million for January-February soared 127.62% on year.
