Sparkman Wharf is going bowling.
Fit Bowl Co. is the latest restaurant concept to sign a lease at the wharf, a bustling warren of shipping containers along the southern, waterfront edge of Tampa’s Channel District.
The restaurant opened its original location on Davis Islands in 2017, then tried a second, shorter-lived location inside a yoga studio on Henderson Boulevard the following year.
Fit Bowl Co. offers acai and pitaya bowls, smoothies and other cold treats, including prosecco and sorbet floats. It will move into the former home of Blind Tiger Coffee Roasters, in a container facing Sparkman Wharf’s park area.
Opened in late 2018 on the site of the former Channelside Plaza, Sparkman Wharf has been the most active part of Water Street Tampa, a $3.5 billion redevelopment funded by Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Cascade Investment, a holding and investment company controlled by Bill Gates.
Sparkman Wharf has had a busy 2021, announcing a handful of upcoming restaurants, including Noble Rice, Burgerfy, Murph’s BBQ, 7th + Grove South and the Battery.
In January, Water Street Tampa developers Strategic Property Partners announced that 3 Corners Pizza, an expansion of Sparkman Wharf’s The Corners, would open this summer at Heron, the district’s first apartment community. Residents are expected to begin moving into the 420-unit building by the end of March.
The Fit Bowl Co. is expected to open at Sparkman Wharf in mid-April.
