The Cincinnati Bengals will spend at least one notable asset on the wide receiver position this offseason as the team gets ready to likely lose A.J. Green and seek out a third option behind Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins.

If that asset is in the form of a free-agent contract, why not Will Fuller?

The former Houston Texans wideout is on his way out the door there and Seth Galina of Pro Football Focus happens to think the Bengals are the best fit:

“Given Burrow’s accuracy in the intermediate range (1-19 yards downfield) and Tyler Boyd‘s big catch radius already entrenched in Cincinnati, the Bengals don’t strictly need a tried-and-true player who can get separation. Instead, they could target Fuller’s downfield speed, which would go a long way toward improving a passing attack that ranked 31st in deep passing yards in 2020 (470). Fuller also quietly had the ninth-highest grade at receiver in the league last season, at 86.2.”

Fuller might end up being a bit rich for Cincinnati’s taste considering he’s a 26-year-old franchise-tag candidate who scored eight times over 11 games last year and averages 14.9 yards per catch on his career. He’s also a bit of an odd investment because he’ll finish the final week of a six-game suspension in Week 1 next season, as well as an injury risk who has missed games every season since 2016.

But on the field? Fuller would of course be a smooth fit for the offense capable of opening things up. Even if his speed merely creates more looks for Boyd and Higgins, it would be a big win of a signing.

More likely, Cincinnati uses its big signing in free agency on an offensive lineman or simply targets cheaper wideout options, but again, it would be hard to complain about Fuller.
