STORY: A lack of transparency by Altman and rumors he wanted to commercialize ChatGPT allegedly prompted the board of OpenAI, a company co-founded by Altman, to fire him.
"Hey, look, Microsoft's a public company," notes Cipolloni. "They want to commercialize this product. So maybe Sam being at Microsoft is a better fit versus being at OpenAI. At the end of the day, this might all work out in the long term better for Microsoft and for Sam."
Speaking with Reuters' Lisa Bernhard, Cipollini said the OpenAI board is "going to have to do some really good soul searching as a board and figure out what they want to be and who they are."
Cipolloni also discussed the week's other big AI news - Nvidia's quarterly earnings, which the chip maker will report on Tuesday (Nov. 21), and likely deliver yet another blockbuster revenue forecast.
Cipolloni notes, howver, that there had been "intimations" that the company "had some sales pull forward in some of their channels. So I want to see if this growth is maintained. That's the biggest question...."
