Blake Lively's trainer dishes on how to overeat while staying fit on Thanksgiving - New York Post

You can still gobble up a Thanksgiving feast and stay in tip-top shape, one trainer to the stars says.

Do Saladino, a Hollywood fitness guru whose clients include Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Anne Hathaway, is revealing the Thanksgiving eating strategy that allows you to stay fit — and feel full.

Saladino says you shouldn’t hold off on eating until Thanksgiving dinner, as you’re more likely to binge on bad foods.

“Eat before you go. It is good to have a real meal 90 minutes to two hours before you are going to a holiday dinner,” he told The Sun.

“Most people go to Thanksgiving dinner and will not eat all morning,” he explained.

Saladino says breakfast is essential as it will fuel your body for the day.

He suggested people have a big breakfast, a large lunch, and then two healthy snacks before enjoying their Thanksgiving so that they aren’t “famished” by the time evening rolls around.

“Maintaining blood sugar level is one of the most overlooked areas. Just as is increasing fiber such as vegetables,” he said.

It’s also not just about how much you eat at Thanksgiving dinner — but what you eat. Healthy and fiber-rich foods are a great option for those looking to stay in shape.

“I have never seen anyone suffer from eating a lot of healthy foods,” he advised. “You can overeat your protein and vegetables and your sweet potato,” he explained.

Don Saladino also created a fitness program for Ryan Reynolds.

“I have had people who have increased calories, increased fiber, and they have lost weight. This is about healthy calories and fuel for the body that will keep us from wanting to dive into those chips or ice cream in the evening,” he added.

And while you may be fielding questions from annoying or invasive relatives, grab some glasses of water instead of downing a bottle of wine.

“There is also a non-negotiable in hydration,” he said. “Just by increasing that in itself, that is going to help the metabolism.”

Saladino said consistency is key when creating a fitness plan.

Saladino created the Train Like Blake Lively 2.0 Program to help the mom-of-four stay in shape for all her movies. He says the “Gossip Girl” star works out five days a week.

“Blake’s routine is more metabolic where we are going to be running around a little bit more, ” he said.

“We are focusing a little bit more on work capacity. She is not someone who loves pounding the cardio machines.”

He said Lively likes to “stay busy” during her physical training and isn’t big on resting after workouts.

“As a mom of four, I consider every day how she wakes up and how she feels. If moms are lacking in sleep, then you have to make adjustments to that,” he said.

Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, also trains with Saladino. He has tried Lively’s workouts before, but Saladino also created a six-day strength-focused workout routine for the “Deadpool” actor he called the “Deadpool 2” Program.

“Ryan also focuses on specific movements and improving specific qualities,” added Saladino.

“But I always need him to rest in between sets and to recover.”
