GROTON, CT (WFSB) - A man faces a number of charges for selling drugs, which included crack cocaine, near a school in Groton.

Groton police said they arrested 53-year-old Andre Gilbert on Monday.

They said it was the result of an ongoing investigation into the sale of crack cocaine in the city.

Groton detectives and officers, along with help from a Montville police K9 unit, executed a search and seizure warrant on Brandegee Avenue.

The address is right by the Thames River Middle School.

Police said they found 243.6 grams of crack cocaine, $12,642 in narcotics proceeds, multiple cell phones, and equipment used to prepare drugs for sale.

No one was hurt during the search.

Thames River Middle School was alerted about the police presence at the home, but was not affected by the investigation.

Gilbert, whom police said was already on probation, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of less than a 1/2 ounce of crack cocaine with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, and operating a drug factory.

He was released after he posted a $125,000 cash/surety bond.
