VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A fire destroyed the T-Shirt Factory, a Virginia Beach clothing store located along the Oceanfront, Tuesday evening.
Fire Chief Kenneth Pravetz told News 3's Zak Dahlheimer the report of smoke came in around 5:15 p.m. When crews got to the scene, they found heavy smoke.
Pravetz said a second and third alarm was called, then crews went into a defensive mode.
One firefighter went to the hospital with minor injuries, Pravetz told News 3. Another firefighter was being evaluated at the scene.
There were employees in the building at the time, but they evacuated safely, Pavetz said.
Pavetz said the store would be a total loss.
The store is located near 26th and Atlantic Avenue.
Some roads around the store remain closed.
