Fort Wayne firefighters are continuing to battle a blaze that started Monday night inside an abandoned industrial building.
Crews said they arrived at the former Valspar Corp. paint factory in the 200 block of West Jacobs Avenue after receiving a call about suspicious activity in the area about 9:30 p.m.
Firefighters discovered heavy smoke billowing from the second floor but said damage and previous fires at the three-story building made it unsafe to enter, forcing crews to work from the outside.
Crews also had difficulty with hydrants as frigid temperatures hindered efforts to bring the fire under control, a news release said.
Officials said the building has a history of problems with trespassers.
The fire rekindled sometime this morning and smoke could be seen towering throughout surrounding neighborhoods.
Crews expect to remain at the location most of today. No injuries have been reported.
