When it comes to the 2023 free agency period, the Philadelphia 76ers have to focus first and foremost on James Harden. He is going to be the key to everything they want to do going forward.
The Harden and Joel Embiid duo give the Sixers a very good chance at coming out of the Eastern Conference and contending for a championship. The Sixers have to make sure they work something out with The Beard to keep him around.
As far as other free agents go, the Sixers are a bit cash-strapped. They only have, per HoopsHype:
Therefore, they will need to offer a serious chance at winning as their biggest pitch in the summer. There are three guards that come to mind for the Sixers:
Carter is a tough-minded veteran guard who averaged 8.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists while shooting 42.1% from deep. He does all of the little things and there is a school of thought that the Bucks will keep him in tow, but Philadelphia could use another guard off its bench. Carter would be a great fit.
Why not bring him back? Curry is an excellent shooter who can space the floor and give Embiid and Harden (if he returns) everything they need to produce. He dealt with some injuries in the 2022-23 season, but he still shot 40.5% from deep for the Brooklyn Nets. He has a good relationship with Embiid and Tyrese Maxey and it will be interesting to see how he would fit in with this group.

Diallo can be a Bruce Brown type of player for the Sixers with the proper work and the proper development. He isn’t much of a shooter at the moment (23.8% from deep in the 2022-23 season), much like Brown in Denver initially, but he is athletic as ever and he is somebody who can run the floor. He is a tough defender, he did shooting 57.3% overall, and he can be a nice addition to the bench unit.
