Gregg Wallace’s decision to quit Inside the Factory came after his banter during a trip to the Nestlé factory was considered inappropriate by female staff, it has emerged.
The MasterChef host stepped back from his role fronting the BBC2 show after seven series in March, saying he wanted to spend more time with his son, aged 3. But an incident at a Nestlé factory in York at the start of the year contributed to his decision.
During the visit, Wallace engaged in banter with staff that he believed to be friendly but was considered inappropriate. The comments are understood to have related to the weight of female staff members and were not sexual.
A complaint was made to Voltage TV, the production company, which asked
