NFL Draft 2022: Offensive prospects who fit the Browns on Day 3 - cleveland.com

bontereng.blogspot.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns were busy on the NFL Draft’s second day. Scheduled to select at No. 44 to begin the night, Browns GM Andrew Berry had other plans. The Browns sent No. 44 to Houston and picked up three selections, No. 68, 108 and 124, in return.

In all, the Browns had three picks on Day 2. They used their first pick, No. 68, on Mississippi State cornerback Martin Emerson. With their next pick, No.78, they took UAB defensive end Alex Wright. Berry finally addressed the offensive side at No. 99 by taking Purdue slot receiver David Bell.

The draft is far from over. The Browns have six picks -- Nos. 108, 118, 124, 202, 223 and 246 -- on the last day. Here are a few offensive weapons the Browns could consider.

Calvin Austin III, Wide Receiver, Memphis

Height, weight: 5-foot-8, 170 pounds

Why him? Don’t let Austin’s small frame fool you, the kid can flat-out play. A sprinter on the Memphis track team, Austin was named to the All-American Athletic Conference first team in 2020 and 2021 after leading the Tigers in receiving both season. Austin finished 2021 with 74 receptions, 1,149 yards and eight Touchdowns in 12 games. He also took his only rushing attempt 69-yards to the endzone, and remains a threat as a punt and kick returner.

Daniel Faalele, Offensive Tackle, Minnesota

Height, weight: 6-foot-8, 384 pounds

Why him? What better way to add depth to a talented Browns line than by bringing in one of the biggest player in the draft. Faalele is a mountain of a man who played right tackle at Minnesota. He simply overwhelms defenders when run blocking. He rarely gives an inch in pass sets, and his size make it difficult for defenders to go right around him. The Melbourne, Australia native was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2021.

Charlie Kolar, Tight End, Iowa State

Height, weight: 6-foot-7, 252 pounds

Why him? It’s not a secret that Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski loves his tight ends. With Austin Hooper now in Tennessee, the Browns could take a big-bodied tight end like Kolar, whose massive hands and long arms make him a huge target. He’s an expert at finding holes in zones, a matchup nightmare in man, and he can take a pop over the middle of the field and still hang on to the ball.

Romeo Doubs, Wide Receiver, Nevada

Height, weight: 6-foot-2, 201 pounds

Why him? An All-Mountain West Conference selection in 2021, Doubs led the FBS in catches (12), touchdowns (9) and receiving yards (500) on post routes over the past two seasons according to ESPN. Doubs has been special since he arrived on Nevada’s campus, taking a punt 80 yard to the endzone on his first collegiate touch. He led Nevada with 80 catches, 1,109 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 2021. Doubs uses quick feet to beat defenders right off the line, and has shown that he can make the first defender look foolish trying to tackle him in the open field.

Charleston Rambo, Wide Receiver, Miami (FL)

Height, weight: 6-foot-1, 177 pounds

Why him? Once an Oklahoma standout alongside CeeDee Lamb and Marquise Brown, Rambo transferred to Miami last season. He led the Hurricanes with 79 receptions, 1,172 yards (14.8 per rec.) and seven receiving touchdowns in 12 starts, earning a second team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in the process. He isn’t twitchy or physically imposing like some of the receivers taken on the draft’s first two days, but Rambo brings a lot of football experience to the table with him.
