Cayuga Health plans to move its physical therapy facility in Cortlandville to North Main Street in downtown Cortland later this year.

The sign is already above the door: Cayuga Health expects to move its physical therapy program to downtown Cortland later this year, adjacent to a fitness center.

A facility now located in the Cayuga Medical Center Outpatient Laboratory at 1129 Commons Ave., Cortlandville, will move to 2,000 square feet at 2 N. Main St., Cortland, the Bailey Place Insurance building.

“This allows us to provide a convenient location for many people in Cortland, right on Main Street,” said Brian Lee, the director of Cayuga physical therapy. “We were able to complete a beautiful renovation of the building, as our architects knew they could design an inviting, light, bright, and open clinic; easy parking in front or back. Additionally, it is close to our CHS partners like CMA Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.”

The program will offer rehabilitation and physical therapy care following care from Cayuga Medical Associates’ orthopedics, sports medicine and primary-care providers.

“CHS is increasing our investment in the Cortland community to allow our providers to continue to provide high-quality, evidence-informed care,” Lee said.

Two physical therapists will provide appointments on weekdays, plus the new program is close to a gym — Vine Health and Fitness, where people can find extra help.

“Patients seeking to improve their fitness after physical therapy can be referred to trainers at Vine Health and Fitness in the adjacent suite,” said John turner, the vice president of public relations at Cayuga Health.

“I am extremely excited about it because I am a physical therapist myself and I have practiced physical therapy for many years, so this is kind of my dream come true,” said Janine Franco, the owner of Vine Health and Fitness.

Franco said they were still working out the details of the collaboration.

“The timeline is dependent upon final construction details and New York State approval,” Lee said.

Cayuga Convenient Care opened at the Cortland medical campus more than two decades ago. Now the services include care in oncology, orthopedics, neurology, surgery, cardiac and vascular disease and women’s health.
