Longmont is looking for the community to contribute ideas during a virtual conversation about the planned redevelopment of roughly 250 acres in southeast Longmont.
People can join the discussion on the Sugar Mill and STEAM sub-area planning effort from 5 to 6:30 p.m. March 2. The information was announced in a city newsletter Friday.
The project team will provide an overview of the project, present a summary of feedback to date, and gather additional input from the community. People will have the chance to break into groups to contribute to conversations on land use and housing; transportation and connectivity; environment, sustainability and resilience; and arts, culture, innovation and placemaking.
During a December city council meeting project leaders said they would be looking to get residents’ feedback, starting early this year.
Stantec, a consulting company has been helping to create a vision for the space from Main Street to the sugar factory on the east side. The plan includes a mix of housing, commercial and other uses.
Additionally, there’s a STEAM area planned for the west side of the development that aims to be a base for science, technology, education, arts and maker space. On the east side is a proposed redevelopment of the sugar factory property.
Those who would like to participate are asked to register in advance of the meeting at bit.ly/33CazEs.
