Concrete manufacturer Armorock late last month announced plans to establish a new factory in northeastern North Carolina.

The company, which state officials called the world’s largest maker of polymer concrete structures, plans to invest $6.6 million in the facility in Battleboro, North Carolina. The project is expected to create 55 new jobs.

Company officials said the site would bring Armorock closer to its growing customer base in the southeastern U.S. The company, based outside Las Vegas, produces structures for water systems, including manholes, inserts, and lift stations.

“Locating here will reduce costs for the local infrastructure CIP projects and accelerate revenue growth,” Armorock President Vince Bussio said in a statement. “We are confident in the world-class workforce available to us in Edgecombe County.”

The company will receive an economic development grant from the state’s One North Carolina Fund – along with a matching amount from local governments – provided it meets hiring and investment goals for the project.
