The Wolf administration has granted an exemption to allow Procter & Gamble’s largest American factory, which produces Charmin toilet paper among other things, to remain open during the coronavirus outbreak.
According to a USA Today report, the Wyoming County-based facility produces Charmin, Bounty paper towels and Pampers and Luvs diapers.
Gov. Tom Wolf announced sweeping closures for “non-essential” businesses earlier this week but made an exemption for factories that produce “life-sustaining” products.
The USA Today reported that P&G employs 2,200 workers at the factory in Mehoopany. Demand for various paper products was so strong that the company reopened a Georgia factory it had shuttered. In all, P&G operates 24 plants in the United States and another 85 overseas.
