West Bengal Police and bomb squad members arrive at firecracker blast site in Duttapukur in North 24 Parganas. At least 9 people died and many more were injured in the blast. Explosion was reported at around 10 am on August 27. The blast was so powerful that the roof of the building was blown away. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury blamed the Mamata government, saying it has allowed a free run to illegal traders in misuse of explosives.
