Behind every patient who comes to VA for assistance, there is a family of VA employees dedicated to serving the community of Veterans. Shepherding that family, and supporting the VA employee experience, are human resources personnel.

Our human resources team works on behalf of each of these employees, guiding the employee experience from “hired” to “retired.” Through employment programs, innovative training, proactive conflict resolution and a commitment to worker safety and wellness, human resources management champions quality work life.

Within human resources at VA, managers work in a wide range of capacities to help maintain our administrative functions.

You might find yourself working directly with recruiters to secure top-tier talent for our team. You might also support employees by addressing labor relations or acting as a mediator between management and staff. Managers can also tackle broader topics, applying a more executive perspective to how we manage our employees.

To start with, we offer our employees strong salaries based on education, training and experience. We also offer steady growth, with periodic pay raises that address inflation and local market changes.

Some positions also have the option of a hybrid work schedule, meaning you won’t have to be in the office every day. Additionally, our employees receive 13 ‒ 26 paid vacation/personal days, as well as 13 sick days annually with no limit on accumulation, and we celebrate 11 paid federal holidays each year.

These positions offer access to federal insurance programs, too, so you can choose from a variety of plans that all cover preexisting conditions. Additionally, we pay up to 75% of health premiums, a benefit that can continue into retirement.
