Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has insisted he is “definitely” fully fit ahead of his club’s Premier League opener against Norwich City on Saturday.
Alexander-Arnold, 22, missed out on England’s European Championship campaign this summer after suffering a grade two quad tear during England’s 1-0 friendly win over Austria on June 2.
He completed the full 90 minutes for Liverpool, however, in their pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday and later told his club website that he had been able to “push on and get fit” during pre-season.
“Yeah, definitely”, he said when asked whether he was fully fit. “I’ve started pre-season quite well, in training I’ve been putting the work in, got the all-clear from the medical staff early doors in pre-season and have been able to push on, get fit and get the full 90 under my belt today (against Bilbao).
“I think it’s perfect timing the way the games have gone in pre-season, just building up to this: started at 30 (minutes), then 45, a couple of 60s under the belt and then today obviously getting 90.
“I think we’ve timed it well and it gives us a good couple of days to recover and then go on to Norwich next week.”
On July 30, Alexander-Arnold committed his long-term future to Liverpool after signing a new four-year contract.
