ONALAKSA, Wis (WKBT) – If you have been feeling a little pain from wearing your mask, you may not be alone.

Doctors have seen more patients for neck and back pain related to wearing masks for long periods of time.

Health Care workers, factory workers, and teachers often have to wear masks for long periods of time.

Masks that are too tight can compress nerves in your face and neck.

Patients have also mentioned pain in the jaw as well.

Many of the these problems stem from improperly fitted masks.

For some remedies take breaks from wearing a mask when safe to do so.

“So if you fit it tightly enough, you should be able to see a little bit better. And you should take breaks, a lot of breaks. I would suggest exercise breaks, like rolling your shoulders, bringing your arms back, that’s very important. And stretching your neck back and forth, periodically throughout the day, that will help,” said Dr. Leo Bronston of Chiropractic and Community Care Clinics.
