When it comes to Richmond birthday parties, this one ‘takes the cake.’ On Saturday, Aug. 7, The Factory Bar will celebrate its one year birthday, which just so happens to coincide with Richmond’s own 116th birthday. Doors open at 2 p.m. and the festivities will continue until the bar’s 2 a.m. closing.
Richmond Mayor Tom Butt will help get the party started at 3 p.m. with “a toast for Richmond and some Richmond-themed gifts” including T-shirts, hats, hoodies and other swag, which the bar hold a drawing every 30 minutes to give away until 8 p.m., per the mayor in his E-Forum newsletter.
Aside from the giveaways, $1 raffle tickets will offer additional chances to win the prizes and will benefit House of Loving Hands, which The Factory’s owners say is “one of our favorite local nonprofits,” according to an Instagram post.
Live music (4-7 p.m.), the S & K Wings food truck (4-10 p.m., see @snk_foodtrucks on Instagram) and opportunities for selfies with the Beer Can Monolith creator’s onsite Beer Tower—constructed with 326 beer cans—will also be part of the party scene.
The Factory is located at 12517 San Pablo Ave. in Richmond and includes an indoor bar area and outdoor patio. Learn more here.
